The sun shines and today 17 May, Norway celebrates it`s constitution, country and democracy βοΈπ³π΄
The constitution of 1814, also known as Norway's constitution, was adopted on 17 May 1814 at Eidsvoll. It marks an important distinction in Norway's history, as it established Norway as an independent nation with its own constitutional framework after centuries of Danish rule.
A group of 112 delegates gathered in Eidsvoll outside Oslo for the constitutional assembly, where they signed the constitution on this day.
The adoption of the constitution is celebrated every year on 17 May, known as constitution day, which is Norway's national day.
The constitution is one of the oldest still valid constitutions in the world. We honor our national heritage and we will always remember our history and build the nation forward with democracy.
